Roslyn Dunlop has a passion for new music for the clarinet and to this end has earned a reputation as a specialist of new music for the clarinet, bass clarinet, Eb clarinet She is a keen promoter of her countryman's music and has performed many Australian composers' works in every continent of the world. She is a graduate of Sydney Conservatorium of Music and her teacher was Gabor Reeves. Subsequently she undertook post-graduate studies at Michigan State University she studied clarinet with Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr.

She performs regularly as soloist and chamber musician. Her performances have taken her to the USA, Europe, the UK, Lithuania, New Zealand, East Timor as well as throughout Australia. She has performed with leading Australian New Music Ensembles, Elision, The Seymour Group, The Sydney Dance Company, (in the Alpha Centauri ensemble) Voiceworks and Symeron. She is founding member of the multi-media duo Charisma (cello and clarinet) and Touchbass (two bass clarinets). She has performed in many Australasian festivals including the Adelaide Festival, The Sydney Spring Festival,the Festival of Sydney, The New Directions Festival in 1988 as part of Australia's Bi-centennial celebrations, the composing women's festival, the 2001 New Music Festival in Wellington New Zealand and the Clarinet Festival in New Orleans, Festival of Australasian Music in Manchester, New Music Fest in Los Vegas and the International Guitar Festival in Darwin, to name but a few. She has also performed at Conferences (National Tertiary Institutions Conference, Australian Clarinet and Saxophone conference and computer music conferences). Amongst other performance activities in 2003 she has been invited to perform at the Australian Society for Music Education Conference and the International Clarinet Festival in Salt Lake City.

In March and July 2002 Ros accompanied by composer Martin Wesley-Smith performed a series of 6 multi-media concerts in East Timor, the first such tour by Western Art Musicians. With Ensemble Charisma she will tour Europe in October (with a cameo visit to the USA to give a multi-media recital in a New Music Festival in Los Vegas and a residency at the Academy of Music in Lithuania) and in November will give a series of benefit concerts raising funds for East Timor in the Tekee Tokee Tomak Tour. She and composer Martin Wesley-Smith have a multimedia tour featuring contemporary clarinet repertoire by Australian and British composers in the UK and Hong Kong in January 2003. Later in 2003 they will undertake a similar tour throughout the USA.

Ros records nationally for ABC and 2MBSFM radio. She has also recorded for Etcetera Records, Vox Australis and Jade Records.

She has released three solo CDs, "Domino" with pianist David Howie, "Don Banks a Tribute in Memoriam" and "X". Her recordings have received world wide critical acclaim.

With her duo "Charisma" she has just released a CD, which is already receiving praise accolades.

Ros is a member of the woodwind staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of music, University of Sydney teaching clarinet, tutoring composer/performer workshops and chamber music.
